EVALUATION OF FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO RISE IN HYPERTENSIVE CASES AMONG PATIENTS VISITING OUTPATIENT CLINICS AT GIFTED MINDS MEDICAL CENTRE, KISUMU COUNTY

Patients attending a hypertensive clinic At Gifted Minds Medical Centre Kisumu. Cross-sectional descriptive study design was employed and the researcher Collected both qualitative and quantitative first-hand information from the key Informants and hypertensive patients respectively. The study was targeting 120 Hypertensive patients attending the hypertensive clinic at Gifted Minds Medical Centre Kisumu. The study employed cross sectional, descriptive research design. Systematic data collection approach was used. Data analyzed using SPSS (version 29). Descriptive statistics was applied in data analysis. The study discovered that demographic characteristics and attitude had insignificant effect on rise hypertension cases. Alternatively, knowledge on hypertension and social-economic characteristics had significant influence on the prevalence of hypertension. In conclusion, General recommendation is that the government, other private bodies like non-governmental organizations and other media groups should aim at creating more awareness, education, knowledge and Information with regard to hypertension and its complications. Finally, it’s also noted that there is a need for county and the national government and other support groups (NGOS) to come up with health support programs, including low cost Medicare, more of free medical camps targeting undiagnosed hypertensive cases and provision of low cost health insurance covers that would consider patients of low socio-economic status for easy access to medical care.
