dc.description.abstract | Under-five malnutrition is still a global child health and public health problem with low- and middle- income countries especially in Africa bearing most of the brunt. Despite several strategies and objectives set to combat malnutrition in the world, not a single country is on track in achieving the set objectives this far. Varying progress has been reported from region to region with countries in sub-Saharan WHO region lagging way behind. Kenya is among the countries which has record high under-five malnutrition. The main objective of the study is to find out the factors contributing to malnutrition among children aged 6-59months attending maternal child health clinic in Kisumu County referral hospital. Specifically, the study intends to elicit the socioeconomic factors, sociodemographic factors and maternal factors that contribute to malnutrition among children aged 6-59months attending maternal child health clinic in Kisumu County referral hospital. The study will be a stratified random study whereby, the participants will be divided into different strata according to different characteristics for example age and sex from which the sample population will be randomly picked. The study will be conducted in Kisumu County referral hospital, located in Kisumu County, in the maternal child health clinic. The sample population includes children aged 6-59months attending maternal child clinic in Kisumu County referral hospital. The sample size is 133 participants, questionnaires and focused group discussion will be administered, quantitative data will be collected and analyzed using SPSS version 29 while qualitative data will be analyzed using NVIVO analysis software. The data collected will be presented in bar graphs, pie charts and tables. | en_US |
