FACTORS INFLUENCING BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AMONG WOMEN OF REPRODUCTIVE AGE AT KISUMU COUNTY REFERRAL HOSPITAL, KENYA.
Abstract
Breast cancer is a significant health concern affecting women globally particularly in low and middle income countries where awareness and early detection remain crucial in improving outcomes. The study focus aimed to investigate the factors influencing breast cancer awareness among women of reproductive age at Kisumu county referral hospital (KCRH). A cross sectional design was employed, utilizing a simple random sampling technique to select participants. Sample size determined using Fischer’s formula, 68 participants. Data was collected through structured questionnaires, with quantitative analysis done using the SPSS version 29. The study findings are expected to contribute valuable insights into the variables playing a major role affecting the level of breast cancer awareness in women of reproductive age. Improving awareness among women of reproductive age is crucial for early detection, better treatment outcomes and ultimately reducing the impact of breast cancer on both individuals and communities hence crucial to identify the specific factors affecting women of reproductive age at KCRH in Kisumu county, Kenya.
